Good morning, my Lord! Today’s a new day, and it’s time for a fresh start. Yesterday is behind me, as well as any feelings of regret, mistakes, or failure I may have had. It’s an excellent day to be happy and thankful, and I am both. Thank you for today; it provides me with another chance to love, give, and achieve everything You want me to be.
I want to begin the day with you on my mind and in my heart. Let me put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, a belt of truth, shoes of peace, and sword of the spirit while praying on my lips: praise for you and requests for those around me and those I meet.
Feed me today with your daily bread. Your food, like manna, will keep me going through any difficulties and hunger as the Bread of Life. Help me to consider things above and only say what is beneficial and encouraging to others. Keep my foot out of my mouth and assist me in protecting my heart’s affections today, Lord. Make whatever I accomplish excellent rather than perfect because I don’t want to make a name for myself but to make an impact. Assist me in treating everyone I meet with respect and care, and in forgiving people when they have wronged me while also asking for forgiveness when needed.
As I begin this day, help me remember that I am your property and that my goal is to carry out what you have called me to do. Keep my feet from stumbling and my thoughts away from straying into diversions that might steal precious time and energy away from the most important things you have planned for me. I’m so glad to be your child, Lord; and I’m grateful that you sacrificed yourself—coming back on your own new morning—so that each day may be full of the wonder of your love, the liberty of your Spirit, and the pleasure of knowing you.
Lord, I know that this life is temporary and impermanent. But I wish to live today as though it were the first or last day of my existence, recognizing every excellent and perfect gift you choose to bestow upon me.
