Do you ever pray with your children? Prayer is a powerful tool that can help children grow in their faith. It is a way to connect with God and communicate with Him on a personal level. It’s easier to tell our children to say their prayers than it is to show them how. Praying aloud is a strong declaration of faith. Although many of us feel at ease praying out loud in a group, others are afraid to communicate prayer with their own children.
Even when we are brave enough, we frequently let the opportunity to pray with our children slip through our fingers as we rush about during the day. Setting aside time to pray with our children sets a precedent for them to cope with life in conversation with God, even if they do not feel confident doing it themselves.
Deuteronomy 11:19 tell us to “Teach these things to your children. Talk about them when you’re sitting together in your home and when you’re walking together down the road. Make them the last thing you talk about before you go to bed and the first thing you talk about the next morning.”
We may pray to the Lord for assistance in passing down His message through prayer with the tiny lives He has entrusted us with on this earth when it appears difficult to broken down faith to our children.
A Prayer to Show Thankfulness
God, thank You for this day! Thank You for creating everything we see, including the animals, the flowers, and the trees. Thank You for making life and giving us each different personalities. Thank You for Jesus, who died for us so that we can go to heaven one day. What an amazing God You are! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
A Prayer Against Sadness
I’m so sorry, God. But You are good, and You are there for me. When I’m upset, You listen to me. I can weep to You and tell You what’s wrong. Even if I don’t know what to say, I may just pray, “God, help me; I’m so sad.” In the Name of Jesus, Amen you will always love me no matter how bad I am. Thank you for being kind even when things aren’t going my way. Thank you for this day despite its not being the best one yet. Help me to be happy today . . . Please let me know how to be cheerful.

God, thank you for my friend. You’ve told us that being alone is harmful, God and that we should be blessed with family and friends all around us. Thank you for providing others with whom to chat and laugh. I pray that my friend has a wonderful day and a meaningful life. When I’m in need of them the most, they are a gift from God. Jesus is to me what he is to others. Enable me to act kindly as Jesus did. To be a good friend to others while also spreading love in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

There are times when life appears too hard for me to comprehend. Life is sometimes just excessively unfair. God, please assist me in trusting You today. God, thank you for my sister. You have informed us that no family is put together by chance. That the individuals in our lives are there because of You. Thank you for making us sisters. Please bless us to be friends like only sisters can be, all throughout our lives. Assist me in being a good example for her and in being there for her when she needs it the most. God, thank you for my brother. People in our lives are there on behalf of You. You love us all as sons and daughters more than we can comprehend! Thank you for my brother. He is a unique individual in my life who brings pleasure to be around, yet understands me. Please protect him, Lord, today and always. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
A Prayer for My Grandparents
Thank you for my grandparents, God. I enjoy spending time with them. They always make me feel valued and are eager to see me. Please keep my grandparents healthy and strong. Keep them safe and happy until I am able to see them again, in Jesus’ Name Amen. When I miss my grandparents, help me to recall all of the wonderful times we have together when I think about it. Thank You for bringing us closer to knowing more about the world You created and how it works. Please keep my school secure. Protect all of the adults as well as the children who come to school every day. Help us avoid being harmed and be considerate toward one another in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
A Prayer for My Mom
My parents brought me up to believe that God, thank you for my mother. She aids in the development of the person You intended me to be. Even though I don’t always pay attention, I adore her every day… all the time. Just as You do with us. She loves me when I have good days and when I’m terrible. Help me to be obedient, even if my mother orders me to perform something that isn’t enjoyable for me. Thank you for my mother. May she realize how much I care about her. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
A Prayer for My Dad
God, thank you for my father. He teaches me by his example and assistance in life. He teaches me how to accomplish things and assists with my homework. He works hard in his profession for the benefit of our family, and he makes me laugh. Thank you very much for my dad. Please keep him safe and let him know how much I adore him in God’s Name, Amen.
