What are Cymbals in the Bible?

In the Hebrew texts, cymbals were an “instrument of song” commonly used by musicians and priests. The cymbals mentioned in the Bible were much smaller and thicker than cymbals used today. They were still circular in shape and were called “melodic” in Psalm 150. Although the Biblical cymbals looked and sounded different than modern types, they served a similar purpose during musical expression.
